Tennessee Moonlight

Ann Mason is a gumboot-shod, overall wearing, shotgun toting Tennessee widow woman who became strong and self reliant after surviving an abusive father and a brutal husband. Jackson Barrister, a   spoiled Midwestern playboy, is banished to Tennessee to learn the family business from the ground up, and hopefully mature into manhood. They meet in a clash over Barrister’s plans to build a resort on property bordering Ann’s—and sparks fly. Soon Jack is neck deep in the mystery surrounding Red Mason’s death five years ago. Given the helpfulness of an old black man named Haber Judd, a huge, ferocious dog named Peanut, and Ann’s lifelong distrust of men, what are the chances love will bloom under “Tennessee Moonlight”?

Absentminded by Voni Ryan

In the dark hills of West Virginia, the picturesque town of Ravenswood holds sinister secrets that explode the peaceful setting.

In a world caught between present day and distant future, Brilliant Nanoimprint Lithographer Doctor Dana Riley stands on the brink of completing a Nano Encoder Device (NED). She believes her creation will mean surgery without cutting flesh, organ restoration, cosmetic repair, even brain cell regeneration. More sinister applications might mean his owner would have unparalleled power, enough to control the world.

When her young lab assistant, Rudolph Muller, falls to his death in the stairwell, she knows something is wrong. Rudy’s glasses are in his pocket and he seldom used the stairs. In what is apparently his last act, he sends an enigmatic still photo to Dana’s computer…

Unaware of the dire implications, his warning comes too late. Dana is abducted, drugged, and bundled off to a private hospital where her assailants attach new-age technological machinery designed to drain her mind of all data, thereby disclosing NED’s secrets. She escapes but she’s alone and disoriented until Ace detective Gabriel Bernard rescues her and they embark on a perilous mission to unravel a puzzle of abduction and murder.

Short Stories

Many of my short stories have been published. One of my personal favorites is a non-fiction story about my husband’s Doberman Pincher, Blackjack. His antics still bring laughter when my friends and I talk about our pets.

Another attempt at creative non-fiction produced The Snake Slayer, a true story of a baby snake that plagued our house for several months, until he/she was no longer a baby. I took certain liberties with helpful quotes from friends to create a spot of humor. They didn’t seem to mind.

In a world of fake Santas and plastic reindeer, Rachel’s Return to Christmas reminds us of the true meaning of December twenty-fifth.

Santa’s Swan Song is a fantasy/romance between a vacationing Santa skeptic and the real McCoy.

Family Treasure leads a weary heart to understand the true treasure is family.

A New Store in Town tells about a young mother’s efforts to make a new life for her and her baby boy and their encounter with the old woman next door. This story won first prize in a reginal magazine.

And hundreds more!
